Technically we still have a few days of summer left, but it seems like as soon as September came around the weather dropped 15 degrees and the humidity went away. So today, I’m sharing a summer recap. First and foremost, we moved!! We are now loving life in the DC area! In the middle of our moving madness, we spent a weekend in NYC and kicked off summer at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.
In July, I went up to Chicago for a wedding and got to catch up with lots college friends at the wedding and also friends that had just moved from Lehigh Valley to start residency as well! It’s been a couple years since I was in Chicago so it was cool to see the new Riverwalk area and check out two of the most instagrammed summer spots, The Hampton Social and Cindy’s Rooftop! Recognize them?
Moving to DC has given us an opportunity to visit new places in the city and within driving distance. For our second anniversary, we spent the weekend in Charlottesville wine tasting (Pippin Hill and Barboursville) and learning about American history (Monticello). We also spent an afternoon in Annapolis, which I can’t wait to do again since it’s only 45 minutes away!
Within the city, there are so many museums to see and events to go to. Over the 4th of July, we went to our first game at Nationals Park! More recently, I visited Artechouse and the National Building Museum. Artechouse is a space dedicated to interactive art and technology. It was fun playing with all the pieces as well as watching other people play with the pieces. The National Building Museum regularly has large art installations in the Great Hall. My friend and I went to see Hive after work one day (love when museums have after-hours events), a structure built with over 2,700 paper tubes. The exhibit just ended, but I’m sure they will have another impressive piece opening soon!
Moving to DC has also given us a chance to try a lot of different restaurants and bars. There are way too many to share, but in case you are interested, a couple places we tried that I would recommend and have pictures from are: Momofuku CCDC (happy hour), Alley Light (dinner in Charlottesville – make a reservation), and Service Bar (cocktails). I also had a lot of gelato from Dolcezza. There was one week that Billy told me I was only allowed to go 3 times because I had already gone twice by Monday haha. We also got to check out the Game of Thrones pop-up bar and the Hello Kitty Café truck!
Finally, since this blog is a life and style blog, I can’t forget about the style part! What was the most prevalent style in my closet this summer? Besides a lot of blue and white stripes, off the shoulder dresses. Lots and lots of off the shoulder dresses!
Looking back, I did a lot more than I thought this summer! Hope you liked the recap and now, onward to fall!!
