Prior to the big move, I spent a week in California. On a whim, while in San Francisco, my friend and I decided to head across the Golden Gate bridge to Napa. Using a quick Yelp search, we ended up spending the afternoon at Domaine Carneros. Domaine Carneros specializes in sparkling wines and Pinot Noir. The winery was founded by a member of the Taittinger family and the beautiful château was modeled after the Château de la Marquetterie in France.
We signed up for the “Art of Sparkling Wine” tour and learned all about the estate’s wine production process from the grapes to sales. Throughout the tour we sampled both Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines including the pride of Domaine Carneros, Le Rêve which means “the dream” in French. We were the only two on our tour which worked out in our favor because we got to try a couple extra samples as well.
Afterwards, we hung out on the patio while enjoying some cheese and charcuterie. I would definitely recommend Domaine Carneros to anyone looking for a low-key day surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The only negative is that they don’t ship to Pennsylvania!
