Life + Style + Travel

Good morning! I just got back from a girls’ trip to Mexico for my bachelorette party. Although the wedding is still a couple months away, we decided that it would be better to go before everyone’s summer schedules pick up and I am busy with the move. We stayed at the Hotel Cacao, a luxury boutique hotel off of the popular 5th Avenue. We did a ton of walking as the beach as well as countless restaurants and shops were within walking distance.

While the location is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Playa del Carmen, the hotel offers a retreat from the party scene and all the construction going on in the area. The rooms are comfortable and feature bath amenities by Missoni.  The rooftop is a great place to relax and recharge your batteries. It is quite spacious for the size of the hotel and the staff is friendly. There are a couple artistic highlights at the hotel too including a giant mural painted by Eduardo Kobra in the 1st floor restaurant, Nibs, and a shell covered VW beetle donated by Tommy Hilfiger. Hotel Cacao was a great choice and we would definitely stay there again.

Good to know: The back side of the hotel is located on 5th Avenue so the rooms on that side can get really loud at night from the restaurants and bars. Also, make sure you look at your invoice carefully when checking out. They tried to charge us for transportation to the airport even though we had already booked it with a company ourselves.
