– Pittsburgh, PA –
Life has been really crazy lately. As many of you know, Billy and I will be moving back north to Pennsylvania at the end of April. In anticipation of the move, I went up to Pittsburgh last week to take the Pennsylvania Bar Exam. The test was brutal since I had significantly less time to study this time (compared to the Florida Bar), but I got to spend the week with one of my best friends and see her beautiful house. I also got a preview of what life is going to be like next winter. After almost 7 years in Florida, it is going to take some serious adjustment!
My friend’s lovable labradoodle, Charlie. One of the places we ate at was Butcher and the Rye where we shared the charcuterie, pig candy (pork belly / apple kim chi / miso caramel / cilantro), shishito, duck confit special (above), dirty pasta (ground duck / strozzapretti / sage / brandy / pecorino romano), and red velvet cupcake pie. Yup, we eat a lot. Before I left, we stopped at the National Aviary, the country’s largest aviary. The aviary is divided into different climates (ex. tropical rainforest, grasslands, wetlands). Some of them are free flight areas so the birds fly all around you. The National Aviary has birds from every continent except Antarctica. The Bald Eagle was one of my favorites. The awesome view of downtown Pittsburgh from my friend’s neighborhood.
