2017 YEAR IN REVIEW
Hello Friends! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! I can’t believe we are in the final stretch of 2017. Today’s post features some of the highlights from the past year. It was another incredible year for travel and we had a smooth transition moving to our new city. Thank you all for following along with me here on my little piece of the internet! Best wishes to you and your loved ones for a happy and healthy 2018!
Billy and I kicked off the year in Cleveland. Besides catching up with friends and family, highlights included visiting my two favorite places: the Cleveland Museum of Art and Severance Hall for a Cleveland Orchestra concert. We also checked out a new local vineyard and took a quick weekend trip to NY to go skiing.
We did some exploring around town. If you’re ever in Philadelphia, check out the Magic Gardens. It is a good reminder that one man’s trash is another’s treasure.
We took our first big trip of the year to London, Dubrovnik, and Montenegro! It’s funny how the more you travel, the more you want to see! We’re currently brainstorming ideas for next spring, any suggestions??
April was the busiest month of the year. To start with, Billy graduated from medical school! It was our first time back in Tampa since we moved and it was like no time had passed! After a very sunny week in Florida (including a visit to Harry Potter World with my brother!), we were lucky enough to go on another big trip! This time, a road trip in the Southwest. We started and ended in Las Vegas and made stops at 7 Magic Mountains, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park!
May was another family filled month. Since we haven’t lived by any family in almost a decade, we don’t get to see everyone very often so I’m really grateful for the extra time this year! We spent a couple days in Cleveland and a couple days in Upstate New York. While in NY, we went to the Lilac Festival, which I was especially happy about because I haven’t been in town for it since I was a kid!
We kicked off summer at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park. We spent the rest of the month settling into our new home in the DC area. One of our favorite day trips to take around here is Annapolis!
August was a pretty quiet month here. It was nice having time to check out a lot of the farmers markets and getting to know the local neighborhoods!
In September, we went to see Yo-Yo Ma and Cynthia Erivo perform with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center! It is definitely one of my top DC memories since moving here!
Billy took his last major exam on the road to becoming a licensed physician! We celebrated by going to Le Diplomate, a French Restaurant in Logan Circle. We also fully embraced fall with activities like apple picking and going to the pumpkin patch!
November was a sports filled month. We checked out The Future of Sports art installation and went to two football games, one college (Navy vs. SMU) and one NFL (Giants vs. Redskins)! We also celebrated my birthday with a lovely afternoon tea. For Thanksgiving, we stayed in town and had a staycation in Georgetown.
December started off in Hawaii for a friend’s wedding. Then I returned to the cold and got in the holiday spirit with ice skating and visiting the downtown Christmas Market. To wrap it all up, we will be finishing the year how we started, with our friends and family in Cleveland!
See you in 2018!!
