Varnish Lane is a nail salon in Friendship Heights that is completely water free, which saves up to 15 gallons of water per service! On top of being eco-friendly, it eliminates the risk of waterborne infections when getting your nails done. The space is also a lot prettier than your typical nail salon. It’s open, chic, and feels luxurious. I first found out about Varnish Lane last fall when I was compiling a list of things to do for a girls’ weekend, but we didn’t end up having time to go. I finally had a chance to check it out when my friend and I stopped in for some midweek pampering. The space was as beautiful as advertised and there were so many amazing colors to choose from! I ended up going with the color Natty by Zoya.

While we were getting our manicures, we found out they were having a nail art class. It was almost sold out so of course we signed up right away. We’re easy to persuade like that. The class took place at Take Care Shop in Georgetown. Take Care is an all-natural beauty and wellness shop. We loved how much natural light filled the shop!

When we got to the class, we were given champagne and a bag full of goodies (nail polish, brush, tape, etc) to help us with our nail art! I also got a polish change, which introduced me to a new-to-me brand of vegan nail polish, Habit Cosmetics. The colors are absolutely gorgeous! The class was a great intro on how to use the tools and what kind of paints to use. I’m looking forward to trying a negative space design on myself next!
