VA IS FOR WINE LOVERS
PIPPIN HILL FARM AND VINEYARDS
Earlier this month, Billy and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary! A lot has changed in the last year, but definitely not our love of exploring new places! For our anniversary, we took a quick weekend trip to Charlottesville, Virginia. This was our first time visiting the Virginia countryside and it did not disappoint.
Charlottesville is home to the Monticello Wine Trail. One of the vineyards we visited was Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards. Pippin Hill might just be the loveliest vineyard I have ever visited and I now desperately want someone I know to get married there! The landscape is so picturesque that there was a lady actually painting it!
I had no knowledge about Virginia wines before our visit so I didn’t know what to expect, but I think I can now confidently say that Thomas Jefferson (the original wine pioneer of the area) would be proud. We did the tasting inside and then had a light lunch on the veranda. We had with the Sparkling Rosé for something refreshing to sip on while eating in the sweltering heat and took home the Sauvignon Blanc and the Meritage Reserve. At only 2.5 hours away, I have a feeling we’ll be back!
Tip: If you plan to visit on a weekend and sit out on the veranda, get there early. The tables fill up fast as soon as they open and stay full.
