VEUVE CLICQUOT X POLO
VEUVE CLICQUOT POLO CLASSIC
LIBERTY STATE PARK, NEW JERSEY
This past weekend was the 10th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Billy and I loved it so much last year, we decided we had to go again! We started the day on the ferry going from Battery Park to Liberty State Park. On the ferry, we met a couple new friends with whom we would spend the rest of the day sipping champagne and chatting up a storm! From the ferry, there is a pretty long walk (15-20 minutes) to the actual event so keep that in mind if you go next year.
Billy started his new job this week so we decided to splurge on the Rosé Garden tickets to make the most of his last days off. The whole venue is decorated beautifully with tons of flowers and lots of props for photo ops. In the Rosé Garden, your ticket comes with champagne, lunch, waters, and seating so you don’t need to pack as much stuff as you do for General Admission. The lunch also came with a side of Veuve Yellow, Vuarnet sunglasses!
Another major benefit of the Rosé Garden (IMO) is that there are real-ish bathrooms. Technically they are still porta potties, but they are in a trailer (i.e. there’s actually soap, running water, and paper towels). You also get priority boarding for the ferry, but I didn’t think it mattered much because you still have to wait for the entire ferry to load before you depart. We were the first people on our ferry and probably waited 45 minutes before we set sail.
It’s fun to see all the different styles at this event. I browsed through a lot of dress before I picked this pineapple print dress. The print is absolutely perfect for summer and I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it over the next couple months! The material is light weight and breathable, which is important for an entire day in the sun. Billy went with a chambray jacket and yellow gold bow tie.
The 10th year of the event brought out some big names, both in attendance and participating in the event. You might have caught some pictures on social media. Star polo player, Nacho Figueras, returned to play for his 10th year and his wife and eldest son played also! The event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, with the first ball toss thrown by Priyanka Chopra, and Alicia Keys performing “Empire State of Mind” to close out the day. I can’t believe the event has already come and gone. I’m already dreaming about the next one. It’s the perfect NY afternoon (even though you are in NJ) and I would highly recommend going next year if you get the chance!
