AROUND THE WORLD
– Orlando, FL –
Whoever says that Disney is just for kids, probably hasn’t been to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Food + Wine + Friends = Great day. You still have a chance to go through this weekend! Otherwise, be sure to put it on the calendar for next year!
Food & Wine has been on my bucket list for a while. The festival consists of marketplaces set up throughout the World Showcase where you can buy regional and global cuisine and drinks. When you begin your day, you can get a Passport to document your adventures. Out of the 36 marketplaces, I collected 22 stamps. Not bad right?
My favorites include the Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies from Australia and pretty much any of the sparkling drinks :-). Group favorites include: 1) Scotland – Seared Sea Scallop with Spinach-Cheddar Gratin and Crispy Bacon; 2) Poland – Kielbasa and Potato Pierogi with Caramelized Onions; 3) France – Escargot Tart with Garlic, Spinach, Bacon, and Parmesan (warning: don’t get this if you hate garlic); and 4) Belgium – Beer Flight. Also, if you are at a Disney lounge or restaurant, order the Magical Star. It lights up in different colors and you can order it all year long!
My friends and I started at Scotland and worked our way around. Halfway through we stopped at the Chase Lounge, which is a good place to recharge (both yourself and your phone). The lounge offers free water and soda and sells beer and wine for those in your group that don’t need a break. Only one person in your group needs to have a Chase credit or debit card to get in.
*Good to know: Purchasing the gift card that you can wear on your wrist to pay for your food and drinks is really convenient. However, keep in mind when reloading the card (because you will probably need to reload) that you might not be able to get your money back. Only part of my group was able to get a refund even though we were told when we purchased them that cashing out was possible.
